I am so proud of Room 18 students and what a great job they are doing! The first three days of testing have gone very well. Student have wonderful positive attitudes and they have been very polite and focused during the testing blocks.
Students will be completing CAASPP testing over the next 2-3 weeks. We hope to have testing completed by Friday, May 17 but we do have another one week window to use as needed.
The homework during testing is very light. Students will continue to work on goals in AR and Math. They will need to continue reading and working on Jiji math.
Language Arts :
LA testing May 6-10
Life Science:
Students are learning about Ecosystems, Butterflies, The Bolsa Chica Wetlands, and Life Cycles of animals and bugs.
Students will also have an opportunity to research an animal that is interesting to them and make a poster to highlight interesting facts.
Social Studies:
We will continue with our study of Orange County History.
Biography Reports are coming up soon. Students will need to read a book about a notable person from history. Students will need to choose a biography book over the next two weeks (By May 20). Next Monday, students will have an opportunity to check out a biography book from our own Seacliff library. If students have a specific person they hope to study, they may need to visit the city library or find a book from another source.
Math:
Math testing will be during the week of May 13-17.
Homework:
Read! Read! Read!
At this point in the year, homework's main function is to build responsibility and reinforce concepts already learned in class. Please help your child keep their homework folder tidy and up to date. Remember to look over the homework sheet at least once a week and sign the bottom showing your support for your child's learning.
The Monthly AR Goal is now raised to 9 points each month!!
Keep up the great work and dedicated reading!
