Language Arts:
This week's story is an imaginative tale, Raising Dragons.
Writing:
Students will be writing across the curriculum in Science and Social Studies.
Social Studies:
In social studies we will begin learning about Orange Counties Native Americans.
Math: Chapter 3, Subtraction:
This week's focus will be on subtracting with regrouping with up to four digit numbers and problem solving using subtraction. Students will also be practicing the 10s times tables. Math homework will come home on Monday and Wednesday. The chapter test is scheduled for Friday.
The multiplication time test on the 4s is Friday.
How to study multiplication facts: 1. Memorize counting by the fact number. 2. Use flash cards in # order. 3. Use flash cards in random order. 4. Take a practice test orally 3-4 times. Time yourself to see if you can complete the test in less than 3 minutes. 5. Before the test, take a practice test in written form and timed at 3 min. or less.
A practice test will come home on Monday.
Science (Changes):
We continue with the Theme of CHANGES. Students dissolved salt in water and then put it into petri dishes to evaporate. Now we have some nice crystals to examine.
Homework:
For homework, students will have two pages of math, 1 page of spelling, 4 math facts, and Jiji math fluency. Nightly reading includes The Mysterious Giant of Barletta, and a chapter book of choice.
STAR STUDENT: On Tuesdays, the STAR OF THE WEEK will get to share their STAR STUDENT poster. Students can also bring in small items to share with the class and decorate the STAR STUDENT windowsill.
