I am noticing now that last week's post disappeared. I apologize for that. Students did a great job completing home reading assignments and posters. Students also did a lovely job sharing Family Culture Posters Last Friday.

Language Arts:
This week's reading will focus on answering the Essential Question, "What can traditions teach you about cultures?" Students will have nightly reading and weekly spelling.
Math:
Students are learning addition properties: Commutative, Associative, and Identity. Students will also be adding with trading two, three, and four digit numbers. Students will learn how rounding can help them predict what is a reasonable answer.
Social Science:
Students did a wonderful job sharing their Culture Projects. This week, we will be studying Christopher Columbus and his three most famous journeys, Students will get to imaginatively go back in time to 1492 and experience life on a discovery ship under the command of Christopher Columbus. Students will then write a letter home to a loved one describing the journey.
Homework:
Please preview your child's homework sheet each Monday. More details about weekly homework can be found under the homework tab. All homework assignments are due the following day unless noted otherwise. Reading homework stories may be read independently or with an adult depending on your child's reading level. Please sign your child's homework sheet each week when you have previewed the week's expectations. Students are usually given two days to complete any written works. This give them a chance to ask questions at school if they have any.
STAR STUDENT:
Each student will have a week when they get to be our classroom STAR STUDENT. On Tuesday of each student's special STAR STUDENT week, he or she will get to share the poster he or she made in September. Students can also bring in small items to share with the class and decorate the STAR STUDENT windowsill. Posters will be shared on Tuesday of each week. Classmates will complete a Star of the Week book each week for our Star Student.
