We completed SBAC testing last week on Thursday! Students worked very hard completing the SBAC testing!! They deserve a lot of praise for the hard work and perseverance! Many of the questions in language arts and math were multi step questions requiring multi step answers.
Students still have district end of the year testing coming up. We are going to try to finish all end of the year testing by next week. We are testing in the morning so please continue to be on time to school. It is much easier for students to test all together than to have to do make up testing in another classroom.
PASSION PROJECT:
Passion projects are a chance for student to use their reading, research, writing, and computer skills to learn more about and share a subject they are passionate about. This is a fun activity for all learners. This project is designed for students to learn how to enjoy becoming an expert in an area they are passionate about. Each week, students will have specific learning activities to complete as they learn how to research a passion. Students will keep all of their Passion Project papers and the data they are collecting in their homework folder for easy access at school or at home. Students will want to keep books and any research documents they print out in their Homework Folder or backpack. Student have a booklet we will be working on in class. If a student is not able to complete the day's assignment, it will become homework and be on the homework sheet. Do not go a head in the booklet. Each activity has a lot more to it than just filling in blanks on a graphic organizer:) Next week students will begin a google slides project as part of their presentation. A summary of the initial directions can be found with the assignment.
This week students are focusing on finding resources to use in researching their passion. Students need to find at least one book. Other sources include magazine articles, journal articles, encyclopedia text, other reference books, maps, diagrams, etc... At least two resources are due by this Friday. All students should have at least one book by next Tuesday, May 29. Possible sources for books include the Seacliff Library (We are going on Tuesday), the HB city library, Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com.
